The meeting, organized with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), is a forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges presented by the use of new technologies to achieve the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda.
Over the course of the two-day meeting, the participating government representatives, international organizations and well-known academic and scientific experts will make recommendations on how to take advantage of new technologies while minimizing their disruptive effects on societies. These recommendations will then be presented at the Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) to be held on June 5-6 in New York and co-chaired by Mexico.
Prof. Dr. Nebojsa Nakicenovic will be present a policy brief on IIASA work on technological change and will participate in a session on future perspectives.
